Scene study classes are where one can really
challenge and push themselves to grow as an
actor. In this class, the “stakes are
higher”, and actors will have the
opportunity to really get into the “meat and
potatoes” of acting. By applying what has
been learned in previous acting classes, the
students will select, memorize and perform
one dramatic and one comedic scene of their
choice. Students will learn how to
rehearse, break-down a script into beats, as
well as hear & feel the rhythm and timing of
well written contemporary scripts. The ten
weeks will be broken into two parts. The
first five weeks focuses on analyzing and
performing a dramatic script, and the last

ACTING – IMPROVISATION: Ages 15 - ADULT
Beginning Level
Whether you are an actor or not, it’s
helpful to be comfortable in a situation
where you are called upon spontaneously to
speak and move with confidence. Knowing how
to improvise is a skill that can be learned
and is lots of fun! That’s why party games
so often center around improvised movement
and dialogue (Charades, Twister, Catch
Phrase, etc.) and comedy clubs and game
shows incorporate so much improv.
Experienced actors are constantly using
improvisation skills when they audition or
perform. Invariably things happen that are
not intended (forgotten lines, prop or set
mishaps, missed entrances) that require an
actor to improvise so that the audience
doesn’t know whether the mishap was intended
or not. This class will review the basics
of improv in movement and dialogue and
reinforce what is learned with many
exercises and improv games. Dress for
movement!
